Meta Horizon Creator Competition FAQ
What is the Meta Horizon Creator Program?
The Meta Horizon Creator Program (MHCP) is a community of creators who build games, experiences, and immersive content in Meta Horizon Worlds for mobile, mixed reality, and desktop. MHCP members have access to exclusive benefits, resources, and opportunities to support and enhance their creator journeys.
Once I’ve applied, how long will it take before I’m able to join MHCP?
The MHCP team has created an expedited process to review your application faster so you can participate in the competition. If you are accepted, sign the MHCP program terms immediately to expedite your entry into the program.
My application wasn’t successful. Why didn’t I get in?
Creators in MHCP must have an active Meta account, be physically located in a supported country, be over the age of 18, and the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence, have a record of following policies on Meta platforms. We know that this can be a disappointing result. Successful applicants often come from developers and creators who have shipped great content on Meta Horizon Worlds or other platforms, and/or those who have contributed to the ecosystem of developers creating immersive content.
Do I have to join MHCP to participate in the competition?
To be eligible to submit an entry and win one of the prizes, you must be a member of MHCP before the submission deadline (May 8, 2025).
How can I sign up as a team so I can work with my collaborators?
To participate in the competition as a team, each member is encouraged to apply for membership in MHCP, which provides access to advanced tools, community and resources to enhance your collaborative efforts. While non-MHCP members can still contribute to the entry, please note the team's entry must be submitted by a world owner who is an MHCP member.
Will technical support be provided during the competition?
We’ll be offering regular office hours, where participants can ask Meta Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) technical questions related to building and programming the worlds they’re creating for the competition. We’ll also have documentation on how to use advanced tools available. We’ll be providing a channel in the MHCP Forum exclusively for competition participants, so you’ll have an opportunity to get assistance from other creators as well.
Can I submit a world that’s already been released / published?
No, worlds must be NEWLY published during the duration of the competition, and they cannot have been previously entered into any other challenge, sweepstakes, promotion, or competition.
Is there design guidance for building on mobile?
Yes, we’ve compiled some best practices for guidance and inspiration; see “See the "Design Guidance" section in the competition website.
Should I submit my entry for compatibility testing?
We no longer conduct compatibility testing. Instead, we recommend that entrants test their worlds on mobile devices to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
Can I continue to work on my world after it’s submitted?
Before the competition deadline, you may continue working and update your submission on Devpost. However, once the competition deadline has passed, do not make any modifications to your world. Worlds that are modified after the submission deadline may be disqualified.
As soon as the competition winners have been announced on or before June 30th, 2025, you can publish updates to your world.
Can I get feedback on my entry?
To provide creators with early feedback on their work, Meta Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will offer a one-time feedback session during the competition Feedback Festival for those interested in receiving initial input on their creation. The team will share additional updates on this process during the competition. This one-time feedback will be optional and won’t impact the final judging feedback and process. Learn more about the timing and structure within the rules.
How will prizes be awarded to teams?
Meta has partnered with an external vendor, Enteractive Solutions Group (ESG), to manage prize fulfillment for winners. The vendor will contact all winners within two weeks of the announcement to initiate the verification and fulfillment process.
Should we build for mobile only and disregard the VR experience?
Creators can submit their worlds as either a mobile-only world or a world that works across mobile and VR devices.
Can I work on my own personal submission and collaborate on another?
Yes, you can. You may enter as an individual and/ or as a member of a Team, but each individual may be a member of only one Team (i.e., you may submit one or more individual entries and one or more entries as a member of a Team, but you may not be a member of more than one Team
Can an entrant submit more than one entry?
An Entrant may submit more than one Entry, however, each Entry must be unique and substantially different from each of the Entrant’s other Entries, as determined by the Sponsor and Devpost in their sole discretion.
Can my entry win multiple prizes?
An entry is limited to one prize only.
How can I find and form a team?
Visit the Participants tab to see other participants of the competition on Devpost. Indicate at the top of the page that you are looking for teammates, then use the filters to search for a potential teammate. Once found, you can send them a message through Devpost. See this article for details. Need tips for working with a team? See this article on Teamwork tips for online competitions. Once you have a team, hit Start Project and see the Manage Team section to invite your teammates to your project.
Can I publish a world from a different platform that I own on Horizon for the competition? Is that considered eligible for the competition?
The official rules require a world to be newly published on Horizon, so a creator may publish a world they own on another platform to enter the competition, and it will be considered new on Horizon. Please note that all the other entry requirements still apply, including that the world is original to the entrant.
Is it required to be a world made for consumption in Meta Horizon Worlds using the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor tool?
The recommended tool for building in the competition is the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor. However, creators are allowed to use the VR Editor for making minor or major changes if needed, but the desktop editor is preferred.
